MANAGER'S REPORT |

|
The past year has been about establishing a Professional Treatment Programme and developing the relationships with other professional bodies in the drugs and alcohol field We have experienced great inspirational moments where liaison and communications have led to the successful outcomes associated with clients achieving sobriety and the benefit of those around them However we have faced obstacles, exclusion and lack of valued recognition from others in the field. These we have overcome by sheer hard work, in the face of adversity. In this brief statement 1 would like to thank all the ADAS staff for their hard work and devotion to the clients who benefit from our expertise. Especially in the latter end of the year when the programme experienced trauma, the staff in the Counselling side all pulled together to re-evaluate and update the programme which is innovative in the addiction treatment field and is unique in the North of England We have as a result successfully established a Primary Treatment Programme, a Structured Aftercare Programme and developed a unique Family Programme The monitoring of our service has been upgraded to enable us to reach higher standards of quality expected from a professional treatment service These will be further developed as we continue to aim for excellence. As we will see from this review, we have contributed to the Governments new policy priorities, such as the New Deal Programme, Primary Health Groups and also Criminal Justice policies. We have formed links and are providing treatment programmes for individuals in these systems, with a view to contracts and partnerships being negotiated in the New Year. Through these activities we have found common causes which has demonstrated the breadth of ADAS interests and activities May I also take this opportunity to thank our Patrons and Trustees for their support and encouragement throughout our first year of operation. Thanks also must go to the Management Committee and numerous individuals who have put their skills and expertise at the disposal of the Charity for no reward other than seeing us provide this valuable service to people who are amongst the most vulnerable in society To all the businesses and individuals who have donated money, time or effort, a grateful vote of thanks from all of us here at ADAS.
